The application generates Outlook Error 0x8004060C in the following cases:
1. The size of the PST file has grown very large
In the earliest Outlook versions, this was limited to 2 GB. Now, with Outlook 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, and Microsoft 365, it is 50 GB. If the sent folder has reached maximum size Outlook Error 0x8004060C is generated.
50 GB is not very large and a couple of years’ worth of emails and hefty attachments can easily eat up that space.
2. File corruption due to improper use
Most users do not understand that a PC takes time to work. It might be fetching new emails, writing old emails to archive, performing maintenance tasks, etc.
That is why PC shutdowns must be through the operating system power button and not the hard button on the laptop and desktop. A shutdown through the OS prevents damage. A hard shutdown (or restart) is the most prominent reason for file corruption.

3. Malware attacks on Outlook
Outlook files remain the favourite of hackers. They contain personal information, calendar, and contacts and are a gold mine of data. If you are not using a genuine operating system but a cracked version, you will not receive regular security patches. These security patches not only protect OS against intrusions but also beef up the antivirus and firewall.
To add to the risk, it is common to use untrustworthy USB drives from others. Autoplay of USB drives is a major security problem.
