How to Recover Deleted Videos From Blink Cameras?
Summary: Blink video cameras store their recordings in a USB drive connected to the “Sync Module 2”. However, these modules face accidental deletion quite easily, often due to power outages and sudden removal of the USB drive. To recover deleted Blink videos, one option is to use a cloud backup (if available) to get them back. However, if the camera hadn’t synced those files to the cloud, this option doesn’t work. Here you’d need data recovery software that can work on the USB drive connected to your Blink video camera. |

A Blink camera is a popular CCTV (Closed-Circuit Tele-Vision) monitoring device, similar to the Ring home security system. This camera can be used indoors or outdoors.
All Blink cameras have at least 1080p native recording capabilities, which means that the sensor, at minimum, records at an uncropped 1080p resolution. For reference, most CCTV systems record at 720p, which results in the footage being grainy and unusable, especially at night. As a result of their 1080p native recording, Blink cameras need a secondary processor to manage the storage of footage. Blink calls it their “Sync Module 2” and it comes packaged with all modern versions of Blink cameras. Users of older versions (pre-2017) of the Blink cameras had to buy this module as an add-on.

Where are Videos Stored on Blink Cameras?
Blink cameras store their videos in two locations, as detailed below.
-
In the Cloud
If your Blink camera is less than twelve months old, the footage from the camera is stored in the Blink cloud. Here, the videos are kept for 30 to 60 days depending on your region (and preferences), before they are wiped from the cloud.
You can “star” certain videos to make sure that they are not deleted. After twelve months, this feature stops and you have to buy a Blink cloud subscription to continue using the cloud. When you have an active cloud subscription, then by default, the Sync Module 2 uploads your files to the cloud once per day.
-
Local Storage
Blink cameras can also store their footage on a detachable USB drive that is connected to the Sync Module 2.
If you don’t have a Blink subscription, the footage will only be saved to this USB drive. You will be able to see the last 30 days’ videos recorded on this drive via the Blink app.
To access videos older than that, you’ll need to connect the drive to your computer.

For Blink Videos Deleted from the Cloud
If a file has been deleted from the Blink cloud, it’s gone forever. Even the customer support at Blink will not be able to help recover deleted Blink videos from the cloud. This is because Blink wants to give you complete control over what is deleted and what is kept in your cloud.

For Blink Videos Deleted from Local Storage
For videos deleted from the local USB drive attached to the Sync Module, you can get your files back from the cloud. Simply log in to the Blink app, select the file you want to restore, and download it. However, remember that if the file is more than 30 or 60 days old (depending on your region), it may be auto-deleted from the cloud, in which case, it will be inaccessible.
In the next section, we’ll show you how to use recovery software to recover deleted Blink videos from your local storage.

How to Recover Deleted Blink Videos?
If your file was deleted from the USB drive and there is no copy of it in the Blink cloud, the only solution now will be to use photo/video recovery software, like Stellar Photo Recovery.
Here’s how to go about it.
1. Download and install Stellar Photo Recovery Software (it’s free).
2. Insert the USB drive that was connected to the Sync Module 2 into the computer.
3. Run Stellar Photo Recovery software, and select “Videos”.
4. Then, select the USB drive from where the videos were deleted.
5. Click “Scan” and wait for the scanning to finish.
6. Select the files you want to keep and click “Recover” in the bottom-right.
7. Choose a location to save the files by clicking “Browse” and then click on “Start Saving.”
Note: Stellar Photo Recovery software lets you preview your recoverable multimedia files for free. To recover your data, you can purchase a license.
So recovering deleted videos from Blink cameras is possible with the right approach. While cloud backups are your first line of defense, not all footage may sync in time. If data loss occurs due to accidental deletion or other reasons, recovery software like Stellar Photo Recovery becomes essential.
By following the steps outlined, you can potentially retrieve lost footage from the USB drive connected to your Sync Module 2.
